I currently have dual qualifications in teaching and nursing and have worked for the past 20 years on a casual basis in these two professions. This has allowed me the flexibility I prefer to travel overseas for extensive holidays with my husband who works as a public health specialist in humanitarian work. Prior to meeting my husband I worked as a volunteer Teacher Trainer in Eritrea for two years from 1996 to 1998. We then worked together in a position in Cambodia after which I returned to Australia to complete a Master in Public Health at James Cook University. This was followed by a short term position with Medecins Sans Frontieres in South Sudan as a Health Trainer in 2003. Several years ago I worked as a tutor with VISE for a family on a large cattle station in the Northern Territory for 8 weeks in 2017, and so have experience working with Alice Springs School of the Air, and living in a remote location. This year we are interested in travelling through outback Australia from July to September and would love the opportunity to volunteer with a family as part of this travel. We have just purchased a Nissan Patrol 4WD that we will be setting up for camping and travelling, so would be able to make our own way to a placement.
