I have been in eduction for 45 years. Twenty of those years were spent in western Queensland – Roma, Dirranbandi and Mt Isa. I was a deputy principal for about 30 years. I taught English and the Social Sciences. I have, over the last 7 years, spent time overseas working with teachers in schools on English programs. I have done three assignments with Australian Volunteers for International Development in Sri Lanka and Indonesia. I have been working at an English Language school in Brisbane this year where I teach Maths and Science to students who are refugees/migrants. This work is primary focused because of the language of the students and, in many cases, their interrupted schooling due to conflict and upheaval. I am currently registered as a teacher in Queensland.
